Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016) with 6″ Display is Officially Priced at $491
Update – While launching the all new Galaxy A series, the company hasn’t mentioned the pricing and availability of the Galaxy A9 (2016). The device can be purchased from the official Samsung website and talking about the pricing, as the earlier rumors suggested the device costs 3,199 Yuan (approx $491 / Rs. 32,500). As of now only the Gold colored Galaxy A9 is only available in stock.
The Silver and Pink colored variants are also priced same as the Gold colored variant; they are currently listed as ‘Out of Stock.’ Till date, the 2016 Galaxy A devices are limited only to China, while the international launch is expected at the upcoming CES 2016. An announcement regarding the Indian launch can also be heard at the same event. Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.
Earlier: Dec 24, 2015 – Samsung Galaxy A9 (2016) with the model number SM-A9000 was earlier rumored to be unveiled at the CES 2016 is now officially announced at an event held in Beijing, China. The leaked invite suggests the company’s scheduled CES press conference on January 5th where we expect the international announcement of the Galaxy A9. Talking about the device, Apart from the larger display the design looks almost similar to its predecessor Galaxy A8.
From the design perspective, the major difference between both the device is the speaker place that was moved from beside the rear camera module on Galaxy A8 to the bottom edge of the latest Galaxy A9. It also includes a MicroSD card slot which was missing on the Galaxy A8. It sports a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and a 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection on top of it.
Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 652 (launched as Snapdragon 620) octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with Adreno 510 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It has 32GB of internal storage that can be further expandable up to 128GB via MicroSD card slot. It runs on the latest TouchWiz UI based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop, and we are also expecting Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in the coming days.
With the optimized user interface and 3GB of RAM, the device provides seamless multitasking and lag-free graphic intensive gaming. As rumored earlier, the Galaxy A9 includes a fingerprint sensor that also enables secured and easy-to-use ‘Samsung Pay’ virtual payments. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and is backed by a huge 4,000mAh non-removable battery with Quick Charging 2.0.
On the camera part, it has a 13MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) and an aperture of f/1.9, and an 8MP front-facing camera with the same F/1.9 aperture that can capture better images in the low-light conditions. Connectivity options on this device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, ANT+, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/A-GPS, NFC, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port.
The Galaxy A9 will be available in Silver, Gold, and Pink colors. While the pricing of the Galaxy A5 (2016) and Galaxy A7 (2016) are already announced in China, there is no information about the Galaxy A9 pricing. Since the CES 2016 is just a couple of weeks away, where we can expect the pricing and the international availability of the device to be mentioned, stay tuned for more details in the coming days.
