OPPO launched its latest mid-range smartphone OPPO A59s in China as the successor to the OPPO A59. This new device comes just before the launch of its flagship smartphones OPPO R9s and R9s Plus. The design of the A59s remains same as of its predecessor. It even measures and weighs same as the OPPO A59. The OPPO A59s is priced at 1999 Yuan and comes in Gold and Rose Gold color options, on the other hand, the OPPO A59 is now retailing at 1799 Yuan. It includes dual SIM slots with dual standby option and supports 4G LTE along with VoLTE for making HD voice calls.
On the front, is a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and a pixel density of 267 ppi. Under the hood, the A59s comes powered by MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and coupled with Mali T860 GPU. While the A59 came with 3GB of RAM, its successor sports 4GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage that can be expanded upto 128GB via MicroSD card slot. Recently, LG launched the LG V20 running on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, but OPPO still launches its smartphones with ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Another major upgrade in the OPPO A59s is its selfie camera; the 8MP sensor is now replaced with a whopping 16MP sensor featuring f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. The rear camera remains same with the 13MP sensor with PDAF, f/2.2 aperture and LED flash. Even with a such a powerful hardware, the device is rated to give 28 hours of talk time backed by the built-in 3,075mAh battery. It can even last upto 281 hours on standby mode. The fast charging on this device is taken care by the patented VOOC flash charge technology.
Connectivity options include 4G, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz & 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.1, OTG, GPS / A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port. The fingerprint sensor embedded right into the physical home button on the front can unlock the device in just 0.22 seconds. It can also authorize payments made through AliPay and WeChat. In June this year, OPPO launched the OPPOA37 smartphone priced at Rs. 11,990 in India. It came with smaller 5-inch HD display and is protected by a Gorilla Glass 4 on top. While the Chinese variant is powered by the MediaTek MT6750 processor, the Indian variant came with the Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz.
It packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along with MicriSD card slot. There is no fingerprint sensor on the OPPO A37. On the camera front, there is an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera. It is backed by a 2,630mAh battery and supports VOOC flash charge technology for fast charging.
