Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO is known for its selection of smartphones ranging from budget offering to flagships competing with the other smartphone pioneers in the industry. Talking about budget smartphone line-up, the company has launched a variety of smartphones under it’s A series like the OPPO A51, which was launched last year. Now the company has officially launched the OPPO A59, which was listed on TENAA last month.

The design of the device looks similar to that of OPPO R9 (a.k.a OPPO F1 Plus) and R9 Plus, which are launched earlier this year. The new OPPO A59 sports a 5.5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution, giving it a pixel density of 267ppi. It is powered by MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor clocked at 1.5 Ghz. The device also includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage along with a MircoSD card for storage expansion.

At the back, there is a 13-megapixel camera with a pixel size of 1.12 µm, an aperture of f/2.2, and LED flash. For selfies, the OPPO A59 sports an 8-megapixel with an aperture of f/2.0. The Professional mode on this device allows users to tweak the settings while taking the shot. The A59 comes with the outdated version of Android, i.e., 5.1 Lollipop, but it is enhanced by the company’s ColorOS 3.1 UI skin on top of it.

The battery is sealed inside the phone’s metal unibody, with a capacity of 3,075 mAh which should easily last through a full day without any issues. It also has a physical home button on the front that comes integrated with the fingerprint sensor. Connectivity options on this device include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, FM Radio, a MicroUSB port (with OTG support), and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

This entire package is packed inside the body which is 7.3mm thin and weighs in at about 160 gms. This dual-SIM smartphone is priced at about 1,799 Yuan (approx $274 / Rs. 18,300). It comes in Gold and Rose Gold color options and will be available to purchase as early as June 18th in China. There is no information about the availability of the device in the international markets. Stay tuned for more updates!
