Earlier this year, OPPO launched the OPPO F7 smartphone with the diamond cut design. It was later used on a couple of new OPPO smartphones. Now, the company seems to bring yet another smartphone with the same diamond cut design. The new OPPO A5 will be launching soon in China and it looks similar to the earlier launched OPPO A3. However, the new device comes with dual rear cameras instead of a single camera.
While Vivo is implementing in-display fingerprint sensor on its high-end smartphones, OPPO is ditching the fingerprint sensor on most of its smartphones. As seen on the OPPO A3, the upcoming OPPO A5 also misses the fingerprint sensor. It completely depends on the software-based facial recognition technology which isn’t even foolproof.
It will be running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo-based Color OS out of the box. Talking about the specifications, the OPPO A5 comes with a 6.2-inch IPS display with HD+ (1520 x 720 pixels) resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. On the top of the display, we can also spot the notch. Under the hood, it is expected to sport the 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz.
The device will be coming with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There might also be a dedicated MicroSD card slot for further expanding the storage. In terms of optics, the OPPO A5 sports 13MP + 2MP dual camera setup on the rear and an 8MP single selfie camera on the front. We should be seeing AI integration for capturing better looking photos.
It will be backed by a huge 4,230mAh non-removable battery that should easily more than a day-long usage. Even with such a large battery, the OPPO A5 measures 156.2 × 75.6 × 8.2 mm. It will be available in Mirror Blue and Mirror Gold color options. Both the color options will be coming with the diamond cut finish. As of now, there is no information about the launch date or the pricing of this device. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
