How To Install Latest OnePlus 2 Firmware Update Manually / OTA

OnePlus has recently launched a new smartphone OnePlus 2 that comes powered by Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 1.55GHz and runs on Oxygen OS.

Earlier when we got the device the build number on the device was ONE A2003_14_150715 version. The first update on the device rolled out on 5th Aug 2015, after installing this update on the device, the build number of the device was changed to ONE A2003_14_150805.

After installing the 805 build update on the device, it still had a few issues with the fingerprint scanner, battery, and the photo gallery application. We have already mentioned about the issues in our OnePlus 2 review. Now, OnePlus has officially released its first OTA update for the OnePlus 2 users of the size 1.1GB & which can be flashed or installed in two ways as mentioned below.

Method 1(for quick installation)

  • Step 1: Download the build from here.
  • Step 2: Once you are done with download, copy the zip file in the SD root or else in the file manager of your device.

  • Step 3: Switch-off of your device, and boot it holding the power button and volume down button together.
  • Step 4: You will enter the recovery mode on your device. Select the language with which you want to proceed and press the power button to proceed.

  • Step 5: Once the language selection is done you will enter the homepage of the recovery mode. In this, go to the Wipe data and cache and press the power button to proceed.
  • Step 6: Now, go back to the recovery page and select the ‘Install from SD’.

  • Step 7: You will be directed to the SDcard folder of your device, Choose the build that you copied on your device and click the power button to install.

  • Step 8: It will ask for confirmation, select the yes option and press the power button.

  • Step 9: It will take 5-10 minutes to install the update on your device. Once it is done, a message stating Install success is displayed on the screen. Select the Reboot option and proceed by pressing the power button.

  • The device reboots and you have successfully installed the new OTA update on your device. After the installation, the build number on the device is changed to ONE A2003_14_150819, and you have been upgraded to the latest version of the Oxygen OS, i.e., 2.0.1version. The fingerprint and camera issues are fixed with this latest update improving the performance of the device.

  • Method 2

    This is the general update method, but you need to wait for the update to roll out on your device. Once you get the update notification, open the settings, click on About phone. Now, tap on system update, download the update and install on your device. Since this update is available directly Over-the-Air (OTA) it is recommended to go for this option if the update shows up on your device.

    OnePlus has officially released a new OTA update for all the OnePlus2 users that will fix few of the existing bugs on the device. It’s a minor update, and the size of the file is around 8.9MB and will fix the following bugs.

    • Finger recognition improvements
    • Speaker bug Fixes
    • Front camera bug fixes
    • Minor UI fixes in camera

    Update:
    The device has got a new OTA OnePlus2Oxygen_14_1510112055 Update of size 44MB where the update would fix the issues mentioned below:

    • Facebook crashing on open
    • Maps and messenger not working in landscape mode
    • New language packs for Swiftkey keyboard.

    New Update:

    The device received new OTA i.e OnePlus2Oxygen_14_1511091726 Update of Size 48MB where it would be fixing the following issues mentioned below.

    • Improved UX for preview in Camera
    • Performance improvement on app install and launch
    • Individual icon customization support
    • Fixes for raw format on 3rd party camera apps
    • Russian & Turkish language support
    • Lockscreen wallpaper support
    • Security problems
    • Bug fixes to system update to improve OTA Stability
    • General Bug Fixes and performance improvements
