OnePlus to Skip 3.5mm Audio Jack on OnePlus 6T, Launches Type-C Bullets Earphones
OnePlus will be launching the OnePlus 6T as the successor to OnePlus 6 by the end of next month. Last week, the company has confirmed to introduce the in-display fingerprint sensor with its upcoming smartphone. The leaks also confirmed the device to sport the waterdrop AMOLED display with a tiny notch. While we are yet to know the exact launch date of the device, the company has started teasing by revealing key features.
The company now confirmed the OnePlus 6T to miss out the 3.5mm audio jack. While many other manufacturers started removing the 3.5mm audio jack from their flagship devices starting 2016, OnePlus always backed its decision to feature the standard audio jack. Not from now on, the OnePlus 6T will be first OnePlus smartphone skip the 3.5mm audio jack. According to the survey conducted earlier this year, 59% of its users in the OnePlus community have confirmed to own wireless headset.
This decision will leave out the other 41% of its users without any options but to buy a new pair of earphones which will be incompatible with their laptop or any other devices. Back in 2015, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 2 without the NFC support. Then, the company backed its decision by saying most OnePlus users weren’t using NFC. All the OnePlus devices after that came with NFC support. While it looks impossible, we hope the company comes back with 3.5mm audio jack with its 2019 flagship smartphone.
As of now, the OnePlus Type-C Bullets or the new Bullets Wireless earphones will be an additional accessory to purchase with the OnePlus 6T smartphone. The OnePlus Type-C Bullets will be the successor to OnePlus Bullets V2 with a USB Type-C port and few other improvements. It is priced at Rs 1,490 and will go on sale along with the OnePlus 6T smartphone. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
