During the Oneplus 5T launch event, the company announced to soon release the Android Oreo stable update for the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T smartphones. On the other hand, the Oneplus 5 and OnePlus 5T users have to wait until 2018 for the latest Android update. Today, the company started rolling out the all-new OxygenOS 5.0 update based on Android 8.0 Oreo for OnePlus 3 & 3T users. Last month, the company released the Android 8.0 Oreo-based OxygenOS Open Beta for both these devices.

A few OnePlus 3/3T users in the European markets have already received the latest OxygenOS 5.0 update. With this new stable built, the company is bringing all the features from the last month’s Open Beta update. The new OxygenOS 5.0 update also comes with September’s security patch update. Below is the changelog of the all-new OxygenOS 5.0 for the Oneplus 3 and 3T smartphones.

System

  • Update to Android O (8.0)
  • Added Parallel Apps
  • Added Picture in Picture
  • Added Auto-fill
  • Added Smart text selection
  • New Quick Settings design
  • Updated security patch to September

Launcher

  • Added notification dots
  • New app folder design
  • Now able to upload photos directly to Shot on OnePlus

The Open Beta update released last month also came with the same changelog and included the same September security patch update. Unlike the Open Beta, the new OxygenOS 5.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo will be more stable. However, the Face Unlock introduced with the OnePlus 5T is not part of this update. The device comes with the built-in Parallel app for having two WhatsApp or WeChat on the same device.

The new features of the Android 8.0 Oreo including Picture in Picture (PIP) mode, Auto-fill, and Smart text selection are all integrated into the OxygenOS 5.0. If you are a OnePlus 5 users, then you should be getting Oreo-based Open Beta update by the end of this month. The same will be available for the new OnePlus 5T users in December. While there is no confirmation, the OnePlus 5 might also get the Face Unlock with the upcoming update.

As of now, only a small percentage of the OnePlus 3/3T users are receiving the OxygenOS 5.0 update. The company said the broader rollout will happen in the next couple of days. If there is no notification about the new update, you can also manually check it opening System Update option in the Settings menu.
