OnePlus has revealed its latest flagship killer in the market today; the OnePlus 2 has been launched by the company in a possibly unique way. The global launch happened through Virtual Reality Cardboard sets distributed by the company for sale. The second iteration smartphone from the Chinese manufacturing startup has been launched today.

Sporting the similar brushed back panel, the 13MP rear camera is now accompanied by a laser autofocus, which has been seen on the LG’s G3 and G4 handset. This time the device holds a physical button on the front bottom, housing a fingerprint scanner in that button. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 810 chipset, which is clocking at 1.5 GHz. Running on the Oxygen OS, no more Cyanogen, Carl Pei claims that it is their best OS yet.

The device would be up for sale from August 11 in the US, Canada, India, EU, and China. The pricing of the device wasn’t revealed during the launch. Stay tuned for when we know the pricing. Though, to remind you that Carl has promised to its consumers that their new device would cost less than $450, which has already won votes of many.

Earlier: July 28, 7: 02 AM IST :The Oneplus 2 Smartphone is almost here but just before the official Launch by the brand, there are the High-Resolution leaks of the photos. We found these photos in the Android Central Forums where a user had shared them.

While we already talked about the OnePlus 2 and our excitement over it, the new Bluetooth SIG certification mentions about three variants of the device, with model numbers A2001, A2003, and A2005. While checking for the same on Geekbench scores, we found that one of the variants come with the 3GB of RAM, and other with a whooping 4GB of RAM.

The processor in both is the same, i.e. MSM8994 Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 clocked at 1.55GHz, but the RAM variants will be something good for the users to choose from.

Earlier, Jun 26th:

As the series goes, OnePlus has been teasing stuff about the new flagship OnePlus 2, and the smartphone’s launch date is finally known. It is going to be launched on July 27th, and this will be a special one on Virtual Reality. Here’s an excerpt from the message by Carl Pei on the OnePlus forums:

In our industry, product launches tend to be the same. An auditorium, a keynote, and a seated audience. For the OnePlus 2 launch, we didn’t want that barrier between us and you; we want to invite you into our world, because you’re a major part of it. That is why we will be unveiling the OnePlus 2 to the world completely in VR. Starting July 27 at 7:00pm PT, everyone around the world can stream our launch.

This seems very exciting, after the fact to know that OnePlus 2 is coming with a USB Type C port, and a Snapdragon 810 v2.1 chipset. Quite a long wait, but we at least have a date.

Earlier:
Too early for us to already discuss, but not for the OnePlus CEO Pete Lau, who is letting people know about the hardware of the upcoming OnePlus 2, which is expected to be announced in the third quarter of 2015. Snapdragon 810 from Qualcomm is what will be powering the unit, and the device will be priced at 2499 Yuan, according to Pete.

No other details are known, but we might be seeing a 2K display, at least 3GB RAM, or not a surprise if we see 4GB RAM in the OnePlus 2.

Earlier:
While many of the users were already expecting something more than just the open sale of OnePlus One for today’s announcement, that wasn’t a bad news at all because at least now, there is no need to look around for the invites to purchase the One. But along with the news about the sale, the press release carried an interesting note with the mention about the next flagship from OnePlus.

“This current shift from an invite system to a non-invite system is a big step, one from which we will learn a great deal before the OnePlus 2 launch, with invites, in the third quarter of this year”

OnePlus 2 is confirmed, and it was already as well, but only through one of the founder’s Tweet, and it is expected that the launch won’t be limited to one device, as OnePlus might be coming up with a Lite or Compact version of the OnePlus One in the coming months, for those who always felt the 5.5-inch screen to be large for a single handed usage.

Invite system has been there since the time OnePlus One was launched, and it was almost always that people had to get an invite to purchase the device, and although now that has been rested, it is going to come back when the OnePlus 2 will be launched.

Too early to talk about what will come packed in the next flagship, and there are no rumors flowing around. But given how OnePlus had almost made it to perfection in the first one for a ‘killer’ price tag, we’re excited to see what is to come in the third quarter. Also, we might not see the Cyanogen tag on the back, as it does on the OnePlus One, as it should be the company’s own OxygenOS, that might be running in the upcoming smartphones from the brand.
