Nokia under HMD Global debuted the Android smartphone market by launching the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6 smartphones at MWC 2017. Last month, the company also unveiled the flagship Nokia 8 with dual rear cameras and Snapdragon 835 SoC in London. While there are rumors about the Nokia 9 on the internet, today, the FCC listing of the Nokia 2 was spotted online. Looking the current device naming pattern, the Nokia 2 will be an entry-level device with a polycarbonate body. The Nokia 2 smartphone is said to come with the model number TA-1029.
While there is not much information available about the device, the listing mentioned it to feature a 4,000mAh battery. Talking about the rumored specifications, it might come with a 5-inch display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. The Geekbench listing revealed the Nokia 2 to come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM. It will be supporting dual SIM dual standby and offers storage expansion option. Talking about the cameras, we might see an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for selfies.
The phone will be launched with Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box and we hope, the all-new Android 8.0 Oreo will be released for Nokia 2 along with other Nokia smartphones. As seen with the other Nokia smartphones, the Nokia 2 will also compete with the Chinese smartphones featuring much more powerful specifications. More the emerging markets, the Nokia 2 will be a good entry-level smartphone in the developed nations. Apart from Samsung, no other major manufacturer is selling entry-level devices. We can expect even more leaks about the Nokia 2 in the coming days.
As of now, the Nokia 3 is the company’s most affordable smartphone. It is currently retailing slightly under Rs. 9,499 in India and packs a smaller 2,630mAh battery. The Nokia 3 was launched with a 5-inch IPS display with HD resolution. It is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and includes 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage. In terms of optics, there is an 8MP autofocus camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12um pixel size on the front and rear of the device. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with stock UI and includes minimal bloatware.
