Motorola has launched their new smartphone, the Moto X Style in India today. Last month, company released the first variant of their third generation Moto X, which is called the Moto X Play in the country. The newly launched handset would be Flipkart exclusive just like company’s other handsets. It would be available for purchase on the 14th Oct midnight. The 16GB variant would be available at Rs 29,999 while the 32GB variant would cost you Rs 31,999. It would available in two colors – Black and White.
The Moto X Style is powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor, which is a Hexa-core chipset by Qualcomm. It is accompanied by the Adreno 418 GPU for graphics processing. It is run on Android Lollipop 5.1.1, which is the latest version of the Lollipop. It offers the complete stock Android experience with some Moto apps like, Assist, Display, Voice, Actions and few more.
Talking about the RAM on the device, it has 3GB of RAM and three different options for internal storage including 16, 32 and 64GB variants. With the support of microSD card you won’t have to worry about storage. You can expand up to 128GB, which should be more than enough. While many smartphone companies have stopped offering the storage expansion, Motorola has continued it on their smartphones.
The display on Style is of 2560 x 1440 resolutions, which is showed on 5.7-inch LCD screen of the device. The pixel density of the display translates to 520 PPI (Pixel Per Inch). The screen is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which means you don’t have to worry about getting it scratched in same pocket with keys. You also get stereo speaker modules on the front with Smartbost technology.
On the camera front, you get a massive 21-megapixel shooter on the back side, which has Phase Detection Autofocus. Other important camera features include Quick Launch, 4K Video recording, and Dual CCT (Color Correlated Temperature) Flash. Talking about the selfie camera, it is of the 5-megapixel count and has the same f/2.0 aperture like a rear camera. The company also claims that their front snapper offers better Wide-angle shots and low light shots as well. As surprising it sounds, there is a flash beside the front facing camera, which is told to be a light flash.
In terms of the connectivity, you get 4G LTE support, low energy optimized Bluetooth v4.1 standard, NFC, Wi-Fi 802.11a/g/b/n/ac + MIMO, GPS and microUSB 2.0. The device is a dual SIM variant and can house two nano SIM cards.
The Style comes with water repellent nano-coating, which is categorized under the IP52 Certification. It is not the most highest of IP certification, but consumers would be glad that there is something present, which is always better than nothing.
While company promises the all day battery on Moto X Style, we don’t understand the offering of 3000mAh battery on a bigger sibling and 3630mAh battery on the smaller sibling, i.e., Moto X Play. Though, there is a Turbo Charging feature offered on Style, which allows device to give battery life of around 10 hours with a charge of just 15 minutes.
On a similar news, Gionee announced their flagship phone, the Elife E8 in India as well. It was priced at Rs 34,999, which is competitive with Moto X Style. Both of these devices seem to have similar specifications, but of course there are many unique things about each of them. What is your opinion about it? Would you pick Gionee Elife E8 or Moto X Style as your next upgrade? Let us know in the comments section.
