Gionee has launched their much-awaited Elife E8 smartphone in India today. We are live-blogging the event happening in New Delhi, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer released the new iteration in their E Series of the handset in the country. Perfected after the E7, the new E8 packs a large 6-inch Display with the resolution of 2560 x 1440. It is priced at 34,999 and would be online exclusive on Snapdeal from October 12. It won’t be available offline, which is a big thing for Gionee, as the company has a strong offline presence.

First announced in China a couple of months ago, the E8 is powered by MediaTek MT6795 aka Helios X10, which apparently smokes out Snapdragon 810 in benchmark scores. Running on the Amigo OS 3.1, the interface on the new handset is based on Android Lollipop 5.1 version. Accompanied by the 3GB RAM and 64GB internal storage the E8 is a phablet with high-end specifications. Sporting a unibody design, the new Elife E8 would be coming with a microSD card slot, which can house up to 128GB of storage.

In terms of the camera department, the device is pretty much a beast with a 24-megapixel camera on the rear and 8-megapixel on the front. The E-Series is designed as the camera generation phones, offering incredible imaging. We expect nothing less from both the cameras on the E8. The most important thing on an Android smartphone is the battery life, and E8 nails that too with 3520mAh non-removable battery.

The connectivity department is quite fruitful on the Elife E8, as you get a 4G LTE with Indian bands support. Other host of features includes GPS, A-GPS, microUSB 2.0, and dual SIM capability. The SIM type that is supported by the device should be of Micro nature.

The competitors like Oppo R7 Plus would be giving a good competition to the Elife E8. It is for a fact that these large screen sized devices don’t gain mainstream attention in the market. These kind of devices have the specific consumer base, such as the user who likes to play games on big screen and watch movies on the go. Despite the device being awkwardly large, you get a good high-end specification on the Elife E8. And what you want more!
