In October, Microsoft had announced it’s most affordable 4G LTE smartphone ‘Lumia 550‘ at the launch of Windows 10 devices in New York. It comes with the support of Cortana and Microsoft Office apps which the company says the apps specially tailored for smaller screen sizes. The device will be officially available starting from today in Europe for $139 and will be followed by other markets in the coming weeks.

It sports a 4.7-inch HD display and is powered by Snapdragon 210 quad-core processor. The device packs 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage and a MicroSD card slot with 200GB support. Even with just 1GB of RAM, the device will be able to run the Windows 10 without any glitches because of the optimizations done by Microsoft.

Talking about the camera, it has a 5MP rear camera with f/2.4 aperture and LED flash, and on the front it has a 2MP camera for selfies and video calls. We can expect the camera on Lumia 550 to perform better than the budget Android smartphones. It is also equipped with Office suite of apps for creating and editing documents.

The device comes with a battery of 2,100mAh battery that offers up to 15.9 hours of talk time and can last up to 28days. Connectivity features on the device include 4G LTE along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS/A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0. It measures 9.9mm thick and weighs about 141.9 grams.

With the price of $139 and features like Cortana, the device can give tough competition to the popular Android smartphones. It comes packed in a polycarbonate body and will be available in Glossy White and Matte Black colors. While it is officially launched today, the device is already available in the UK through CarPhone Warehouse for £90 from mid of November. As of now there is no information about the launch of the device in the Indian market.
