Motorola Moto G Turbo Edition with 1080p Display to Launch in India on Dec 10th

Update – The Moto G Turbo Edition that was first launched in Mexico is now all set to enter Indian market on December 10th. Compared to 3rd Gen Moto G, it comes with a better processor and high resolution display while the design and the other specifications remain same on both the devices. The company had confirmed the launch by tweeting “Power up and get ready for #TurboMode! 3 Days to go for Moto G Turbo edition. Coming soon!”

The quad-core Snapdragon 410 chipset is replaced by octa-core Snapdragon 615 and talking about the display, it comes with a 1080p display compared to the 720p display on 3rd Gen Moto G. It has 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and 2,470mAh battery. The 13MP rear camera and 5MP selfie camera remains same as on its successor. Since the official launch is just 2 days away, stay tuned for more updates on pricing and the availability.

Earlier: Nov 6, 2015 – Motorola had unveiled a new variant Moto G today in Mexico. The device called as Moto G Turbo Edition looks same as the earlier 3rd Gen Moto G but sports some improved specifications. It will be officially launched on November 13th while there is no information about the launch of the device in other markets.

It sports the same 5-inch display as 3rd Gen Moto G, but the resolution is bumped up to 1080p. The processor was also upgraded from quad-core Snapdragon 410 SoC to octa-core Snapdragon 615 processor. The 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along with MicroSD card slot remains same as on its predecessor.

Talking about the camera, it has a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an aperture of f/2.0, and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with a f/2.2 aperture. The device is IP67 certified making it one of the affordable water-resistant smartphone. It can withstand up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes, but there is no information whether it is a dust-resistant or not.moto g turbo edition (2)

The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 LE, GPS / A-GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0. It is priced at $238 compared to the original 3rd Gen Moto G that costs only $220 and will be available to purchase to starting from November 13th.

At this price range, there are better options like the recently launched OnePlus X that comes with 3GB of RAM and a much more powerful Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor. Compared to the plastic build of the Moto G Turbo Edition, the OnePlus X comes with a metallic frame with Glass on front and rear of the device.
