Mango Phone Launches Six New MPhones with Fingerprint Sensors from Rs. 11,999

Mango Phone (a.k.a mPhone) is the latest smartphone brand based out of Kerala, India. This week the company has officially debuted the smartphone market by launching a total of six smartphones – mPhone 5S, mPhone 6, mPhone 7 Plus, mPhone 8, mPhone 9 Plus 3D, mPhone 11 Plus. There is also an analog watch with smartwatch features called as mPhone M2 launched alongside the smartphones. Apart from the launch, the brand is also in the local news over the arrest of one of their directors over bank fraud case. Talking about the devices, all these devices come with higher price tags when compared to the cost of devices from original manufacturers.

The mPhone 5s is the least expensive device offered by the company that comes with a price tag of Rs. 11,999. It is the rebranded Elephone S1 but comes with improved specifications where the RAM and Storage are doubled to 2GB and 16GB. The device features a 5-inch OnCell display with HD resolution and is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor. It has a metal frame around the device with glass on front and back of the device.

There is a MicroSD card slot for further expansion of storage upto 64GB. It sports an 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front camera for the selfie and video calls. The mPhone 5S is backed by a 2,600mAh battery and also sports fingerprint sensor placed on the rear. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Freeme OS overlaid. The device supports dual SIM dual standby and offers 4G LTE along with other basic connectivity features. It measures 6.75 mm thickness and comes in Gold, White, and Black colors.

The next device from the mango Phone is the mPhone 6 that sports few similar specification same as the mPhone 5S. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) IPS display. Under the hood is the same MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clubbed with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of onboard storage. According to the listing, the storage on this device can be expanded upto another 32GB. It comes with a hybrid SIM slot where you can use a MicroSD card instead of the second SIM.

It has a 13MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and on the front is an 8MP selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.2. The device is kept powered on by the 3,200mAh battery that is rated to deliver 12 hours of talk time and lasts upto 180 hours on standby. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and offers connectivity options like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a MicroUSB port. The mPhone 6 costs you Rs. 16,999 and will be available in Black, Dark Blue, White, Gray, and Rose Golden colors.

Unlike the earlier mentioned devices, the mPhone 7 Plus comes with a higher price tag of Rs. 22,999. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD resultion display and comes powered by 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor. The device has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with an expansion slot. The design of the device slightly resembels with mPhone 5S that also come wth rounded corners with Glass on front and back of the device.

We can find serious improvements in the camera department, where the mPhone 7 Plus includes a 13MP IMX214 rear camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and an 8MP OmniVision front camera with the same f/2.2 aperture. It is backed by a 2,600mAh battery that can give 8 hours of talk time. The device measures 153 x 76.4 x 7.2 mm and will be available in the Gold, White and Black colors. Connectivity options on this dual SIM device include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, and a MicroUSB port.

The mPhone 8 is the only smartphone from the company that runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out-of-the-box. It is the same device that was launched by Elephone as Elephone P9000 and interestingly the P9000 is retailing at $270 (approx Rs. 18,250) while the mPhone 8 with the same specifications comes with a price tag of Rs. 27,999. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD LTPS display and is powered by Helio P10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. It has 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD card slot.

There is a 21MP rear camera with laser autofocus and f/2.0 aperture and an 8MP selfie camera with 84-degree wide-angle lens.  The 3,050mAh battery on this device is rated to deliver 10 hours of talk time and lasts upto 210 hours on standby; it also supports wireless charging. It also features a fingerprint sensor that can also be used to lock specific apps. The connectivity options include 4G LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a USB Type-C port.

As seen with the earlier devices, the mPhone 9 Plus 3D sports similar design as Elephone M2 but with slightly different specifications. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) display. Under the hood, the mPhone 9 Plus 3D is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 octa-core processor and coupled with Mali T720 GPU and 4GB of RAM. It has 64GB of internal storage and can be expanded additionally upto another 64GB.

The device is said to offers 3D content to the naked eye without requiring separate 3D glasses. It has the same cameras as on the mPhone 8, a 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. There is a physical home button on the front which also comes integrated with a fingerprint sensor. It has a non-removable battery of 3,050 mAh capacity that can last for more than a day of mixed usage. It measures 150.9 x 78 x 7.6 mm and will be available in the colors Gold and Grey.

The mPhone 11 Plus is the most premium device from the company that comes with a price tag of whopping Rs. 39,999. It is the rebranded Elephone Vowney but comes with 128GB of internal storage instead of 32GB. The device comes with a 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display and a pixel density of 535ppi. It is powered by an Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 1.85GHz and coupled with PowerVR G6200 and 4GB of RAM. As said earlier the mPhone 11 Plus comes with 128GB of internal storage that can be further expandable upto additional 128GB.

It has a 21MP IMX230 rear camera with dual tone LED flash that can record video in 4K resolution. On the front is an 8MP camera for selfies and video calls. The fingerprint sensor on the back can unlock the device in just 0.1 seconds. It backed by a 4000mAh that can give upto 14 hours of talk time and lasts up to 330 hours on standby. While the mPhone 11 Plus is priced at Rs. 39,999, the Elephone Vowney with same specifications but with 32GB of storage is available for just $299 (approx Rs. 20,200).


While the pricing of the devices is mentioned on the official website, all the six smartphones are listed as ‘Out of Stock’ and as of now there is no information about the availability of the devices. Stay tuned for more updates!
