LG X4 (2019) Goes Official with Helio P22 SoC & Hi-Fi Quad DAC

LG announced a new budget smartphone called LG X4 (2019) today in Korea. It is the successor to the original LG X4 announced in March 2018. While the company introduced the LG Pay with the last year’s LG X4, the new LG 2019 LG X4 offers flagship grade audio output. The Hi-Fi Quad DAC which we normally see on LG’s flagship smartphone will come built-in with the LG X4 (2019). LG also made decent upgrades in other departments as well. However, it’s still not comparable with the Chinese budget smartphones.

The LG X4 (2019) is priced at KRW 297000 (approx USD 260 / INR 18,000) and will be available via top 3 Korean mobile carriers starting April 26th. Apart from the Quad DAC, the device supports DTS-X technology to offer 7.1 surround sound effect. While the power button is placed on the right edge, the volume rocker and dedicated Google Assistant button can be found on the left edge. The LG X4 (2019) is also MIL-STD-810G certified for its Military-grade durability. LG Pay is now updated to support both online and offline payments.

Talking about the specifications, the device comes with a 5.7-inch IPS display with HD+ (1440 × 720 pixels) HD resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it comes powered by the 12nm MediaTek Helio P22 (MT6762) octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The PowerVR GE8320 GPU looks after the graphical performance of the device. It packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage that can be further expandable using the MicroSD card slot.

In terms of optics, the LG X4 (2019) comes with a 16MP single rear with PDAF and an 8MP front camera for selfies. Both the front and rear cameras are accompanied by a LED flash. The camera app also comes integrated with AI camera features like auto scene detection. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery and there is no mention of fast charging support. The device measures 153.0 x 71.9 x 8.3 mm and weighs 145 grams.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. On the rear of the device, we can also spot the circular fingerprint scanner. It comes with a metallic finish polycarbonate body and a chrome frame. The LG X4 (2019) comes in New Aurora Black and New Platinum Gray color options. As of now, there is no information about the global availability of this smartphone.
