LG has announced two new smartphones in the K series which are dubbed as K50S and K40S. Earlier this year at the MWC, LG also announced its K40 and K40 smartphones which have not made much of an impact in the market. Well, both the new devices will be coming with MIL-STD-810G certified that can withstand low temperatures, high temperatures, thermal shock, impacts, vibrations and more making it a rugged device.
Both these devices will be available in Aurora Black and Moroccan Blue color options and will be launched in Europe, Latin America, and Asia starting October and will be showcased at the upcoming IFA 2019. Nothing about the pricing is known as of now which should be revealed soon. Well, talking about the specs, the LG K50S comes with a 6.5-inch FullVision (1520 × 720 pixels) HD+ display giving 19.5:9 aspect ratio.
Under the hood is a 2GHz Octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage that can be extended further up to 2TB via microSD card slot. This dual SIM variant device has a fingerprint sensor on the back and also has a dedicated button for activating Google Assistant. Out of the box, it will come with Android 9 Pie operating system and has a 4000mAh battery on the back.
The LG K50S comes with a 13MP main camera sensor on the rear with LED flash and a there is a secondary 5MP Ultra-Wide sensor also which is accompanied with 2MP depth-sensing camera. For selfies, there is a 13MP front-facing camera which also supports AI facial unlocking. The device measures 165.8 mm x 77.5 mm x 8.2 mm and comes with dual 4G VoLTE connectivity.
The LG K40S comes with a smaller 6.1-inch display with the same resolution and aspect ratio as its sibling. It is powered with 2GHz Octa-core processor coupled with 2GB / 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of storage that can be extended with microSD card up to 2TB. This device comes out of the box with 13MP main camera with LED flash and a secondary 5MP Ultra-wide sensor. On the front, we can find a 13MP camera. Even this device has a fingerprint sensor on the back along with a dedicated Google Assistant button. To power the phone there is a 3500mAh battery.
Both the LG K50S and K40S smartphones come with DTS:X 3D Surround sound which simulates a 7.1-channel surround sound system. Both sport a waterdrop notch that houses the front-facing camera.
