Alongside the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus smartphones, Samsung introduced the DeX Station at last year’s MWC. With the DeX Station, the Galaxy S8 users only need to connect a monitor and keyboard to the dock to get the desktop experience. While the company has trademarked the ‘DeX Pad’ in Europe in January 2018, now we got the first look at it, thanks to Evan Blass. Unlike the DeX Station, the DeX Pad makes the Samsung Galaxy work like a touchpad.
Samsung will be unveiling the DeX Pad along with the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones at the upcoming MWC 2018. The DeX Pad comes with a two USB A, one HDMI, one USB Type-C, and one Ethernet port. Expect the Ethernet port, the last year’s DeX Station also came with the same ports. The device will be connected to the DeX Pad via a USB Type-C port, and it should be suitable for all the flagship Samsung Galaxy smartphones.
There is also an air vent on the top surface of the DeX Pad for controlling the temperature of the device. Talking about the device shown in the image, there is a 3.5mm audio jack along with a speaker on the bottom edge. While the power button is placed on the right side, the volume rocker and Bixby button sit on the left edge. Both the Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus will be offering Super AMOLED Infinity displays with Quad HD+ (2880 x 1440 pixels) resolution.
Samsung already announced to unveil the Galaxy S9 smartphones on February 25th in Barcelona, Spain. Based on the leaks, the devices will go on sale in just a couple of weeks after the launch in selected markets. While the U.S and Chinese variant will come powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform, the rest of world will get the in-house Exynos 9810 powered handsets.
