Lawsuit Filed Against OnePlus Over Dash Charge Trademark

Published

on

Earlier this year OnePlus is said to have applied for the ‘Warp Charge’ trademark in Europe. It was then reported to be because of the trademark issues over the word Dash in the Dash Charge, the company’s fast charging technology. While OnePlus is yet to get the trademark over the Warp Charge, two lawsuits are now filed against them. The two lawsuits each in the US and EU by the Munich-based technology company called Bragi.

Bragi has been selling Dash-branded audio products for a long time. While there is no relation between the Dash branded products from Bragi and OnePlus’ s Dash Charging tech, Bragi went ahead and filed two individual lawsuits. OnePlus is also avoiding the term Dash Charge in the US and Europe. During the OnePlus 6 launch in London, OnePlus completely avoided talking about the Dash Charge feature.

OnePlus will be waiting for the Warp Charge trademark to be granted in order to officially change the name from Dash Charge. In case, the Warp Charge trademark is also denied, OnePlus can’t just change the name from Warp Charge to something else. We think the company will just skip talking about the Dash Charge tech in the US and EU until it gets a resolution.

Let’s wait for the upcoming OnePlus 6T launch, where we should get a clear idea of this issue. OnePlus’s Dash Charge is one of the quickest fast charging technologies available in the smartphone market. It is based on patented VOOC Flash Charge technology from OPPO. With the OnePlus 6T, OnePlus is also rumored to add wireless charging support. Stay tuned on PhoneRadar for more details!
