There are a lot of people who likes to monitor their personal stats such as heart rate while exercising, plus they also like listening to music at the same time. But doing that usually involves wearing a couple of devices at once, getting things messy as you would have to carry them around. And it wouldn’t be an ideal situation if you are going for a work-out.
Here comes the iRiver’s new On audio headset that can play back music, as well as gathers biometric data, in both case all this would be done through the user’s ear. Company uses the technology developed by PerformTek Precision Biometrics. The On reportedly monitors more real-time fitness data from a single source than any other personal monitor, as claimed by the company.
The data includes heart rate, speed; distance traveled, aerobic fitness level, as well as how many calories you have burned. All of this is obtained through a sensor module that is equipped on the right-hand side earbud, it uses infrared light and an accelerometer to analyze blood flow, as well as any physical activity.
All that data metrics is displayed on the user’s paired Android or iOS device via an accompanying app. It will be used to track progress and create a personalized training program. When used as a training aid, the app will deliver voice prompts to the user as they are exercising, which will allow users to track their goals.
And of course, it also lets users listen to the music and control the playback being streamed by Bluetooth from the paired device. Those simple controls can also be used to take phone calls. The device is available now at a price tag of $199.99. Though, you can get this device for as low as $179.99 at Amazon.
