How to Install Android O Beta on Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player & Pixel Devices

As we all know, earlier this year, Google announced the new developer preview for Android O and made it available for the beta users. However, it was not the easiest thing to install on your smartphone since it required users to use fast boot to manually flash it. But now, things have changed and they have changed for the good. Yesterday, just before the Google I/O 2017 kick started, Google released the second beta release of the Android O.

This new release is a beta version and it should be much more stable now as compared to the last release which we had. And more importantly, you can now simply install the update by just signing up with the Android beta program. Do make a note that the update is only available for a few smartphones and not all the devices are eligible. The Android O Beta program is only available for Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel & Pixel XL. So if you have one of these devices, then you can read further and install the Android O Beta program.

  1. The first thing which you need to do is sign up for the beta program so that you can try and install the latest beta version of Android i.e Android O. In order to sign up, simply head over to the developer program page and sign up.
  2. Sign up here: Developer program page.
  3. Once you sign up for the same, you will be prompted to enter your password and you should be good to go after that.
  4. After that, simply just scroll down and find the list of eligible devices. Now simply just tap on ‘Enroll Device’ option to enter the beta program.
  5. Now once that is done, it is time to install the Android O update on your eligible devices.
  6. From this point, the process is very easy. As soon as you sign up, you should be seeing an update on your device.
  7. If you don’t see the update, simply just go to ‘About phone -> System Update’ and look for updates. The update should be ready here and if you don’t see it, then simply keep checking for the same and you will find the update pop up within the 24 hours of the sign-up.
  8. And that’s it. You are good to go now. It might take some time to install the update and once it is done, you should be running the latest version of Android which is Android O-beta.
