Earlier Lava had launched the Pixel V1 Smartphone in India at a very high price under the same Android Series around the same time when Karbonn Sparkle V was launched in the UK. We do not see much hope from these devices atleast in the Indian markets considering there are many Phones launched in the country which are priced below USD $100 / Rs 6000 like the Coolpad Dazen 1 & Xiaomi Redmi 2.
The device is now available at selected retail outlets in Nigeria and can be purchased from online in other countries including Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, and Morocco. The device comes in two variants with 1GB and 2GB of RAM. The device sports a 5-inch HD (1280×720) display and is powered by an unknown MediaTek quad-core processor.
It has 16GB of internal storage with microSD card slot for expanding storage. The device supports dual SIM dual standby. Coming to the camera, it has a 8MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP secondary camera. All this are powered by a 2,200mAh battery. While the 1GB variant comes in the colors White, Black, Blue, and Red; the premium variant with 2GB RAM will be exclusively available in Gold color.
As this an Android One device, it runs on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop and will be receiving updates directly from Google which is a benefit for Android One users. The company also announced the offline access for Youtube videos will be officially available in Africa, this feature was first launched in Asia.
The specifications look so impressive on paper at least for a price of just $87, let’s see how the Africans will receive this effort from Google to bring affordable smartphones with its Android One series.
