Huawei has confirmed that it’s first foldable smartphone — the Mate X will be launched in September, this year. The company had further stated that it is undergoing few additional tests by keeping Samsung’s Galaxy Fold in mind as its review units faced a lot of issues before the launch and causing the phone’s launch eventually delayed. While Huawei has also thought to launch its first foldable phone in June, this year, earlier reports and being extra cautions has led the launch to postpone to September, this year.
The company’s spokesperson has confirmed this official launch details of the device to CNBC. The report indicates that Huawei has plans to launch its Mate X foldable smartphone globally for the markets, which are capable of delivering 5G networking services. OnePlus has recently launched its 5G capable OnePus 7 Pro smartphone in UK markets, and Samsung also did the same with its Galaxy S10 5G model in the US markets as well.
The 5G network regions will be the first markets to get the new Huawei’s first foldable Mate X smartphones. For those who are unaware, Huawei Mate X smartphone was first unveiled at MWC this year, back in February. While the launch was expected in June/July, the spokesperson has confirmed that it would take place in September, which is the same month wherein in the trio of 2019 Apple iPhones are likely to be launched too.
The report furthermore cites the company’s spokesperson suggesting Huawei being more cautious and is doing extra testing with mobile carriers around the world and also with the app developers too for having a smoother Mate X experience, after the launch. The recent ban has hit Huawei to stop using Google’s Android.
However, there’s a 90-day period for Huawei from Google in revoking Android access, it’s interesting to see what Huawei ships the Mate X with, presumably its own OS, which has been making rounds ever since the ban. Nonetheless, now it’s official that the first foldable phone from Huawei — the Mate X to be launched this September globally.
