Huawei has started rolling out a new update to its Huawei 20 Pro smartphone which will bring DC Dimming feature. The latest EMUI 9.1 update comes with the software version EMUI 9.1.0.135 and is now available in China and should be rolling out to other markets also soon. This feature is already available on the P30 series which is based on Android 9 Pie which brings in many other features like, EROFS file system, GPU Turbo 3.0 and Moon mode.

Now the last year’s flagship model – Mate 20 Pro is getting the enhanced EMUI adding the DC dimming. This feature can reduce eye strain for certain categories of sensitive people by dimming the screen by directly lowering the voltage. Till now the alternate method that has been used is the PWM which varied the width of the light pulse to control brightness. The frequency of the pulses is high and makes sure most of the people are not affected.

The users who have received the latest update can head to the settings of the handset and tap on the Display section wherein you will find the Eye Comfort and then select Flicker reduction. Taking about the device, the Mate 20 Pro was launched with HiSilicon Kirin 980 octa-core processor built on 7nm FinFET process which sports 6.39-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD+ (3120 x 1440 pixels) resolution. The handset was available in 6GB as well as 8GB RAM options along with 128GB and 256GB of internal storage.

The handset is equipped with 40MP wide-angle sensor with f/1.8 aperture, 20MP ultra wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8MP telephoto sensor with f/2.4 aperture. On the front, we can find a 24MP camera that supports 3D depth sensing for 3D photos and is powered with a 4200mAh battery with the support for 40W fast charging and 15W wireless fast charging.
