There are two ways in which you can format your device, i.e., Soft Reset & Hard Reset.

Before you factory reset your device, you can go through the Tips & Tricks of Moto X Force, which we have covered earlier.

Soft Reset:

Soft Reset is the general Method of resetting your smartphone where you need to restart your device incase you want to clear all the running applications and also clear the RAM on your device. This method is used when you get stuck with any of the options on your device and unable to close it. It is same as that of a normal reboot where you need to power off your device and switch it On.

Hard Reset:

This is the actual method of reset where all the data is cleared on your device without and makes your device fresh for use. To Hard reset your device you can follow the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1: Open the settings and tap on Backup & Reset in the device section.

Step 2: In the new window, you will find the backup and reset options. You need to tap on the Factory Data Reset option which is at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3: It will show the list of the accounts and data available on your device. Now you need to tap on the Reset Phone button which is at the bottom of the screen.

Step 4: If you have set any password to your device, then you need to enter the password to proceed further.

Step 5: Once you enter the password. It will show you the final Warning message stating “You can’t Undo the action”. Now click on the Erase Everything button which is at the center of your screen.

The device restarts and all the data is erased from your device. Once the data is deleted the device reboots again as if you are booting the device for the first time.
