Huawei’s Honor has launched two new smartphones today in China – Honor 8X and Honor 8X Max. As expected, the Honor 8X Max comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset onboard. It actually comes in two variants – the 4GB RAM variant with Snapdragon 636 SoC and 6GB RAM variant with Snapdragon 660 SoC. Talking about the design, the device comes with glass sandwich design with a 2.5D curved glass placed on either side of the Aluminum frame.
Coming to the display, the Honor 8X Max sports a 7.12-inch IPS display with Full HD+ (2244×1080 pixels) resolution and 18.7:9 aspect ratio. As seen on the recently launched OPPO and Vivo devices, the new Honor 8X Max also adopts the waterdrop screen with a tiny notch on the top. As said earlier, the device comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 and Snapdragon 636 Mobile Platforms. Both the chipsets are built on the 14nm platform and feature Qualcomm’s custom Kryo CPU.
Unlike the HiSilicon powered Honor devices, the Honor 8X Max will out the GPU Turbo support. The device will be available in 4GB and 6GB RAM variants with 64GB and 128GB storage options. There is also a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB. In terms of optics, the Honor 8X Max sports 16MP + 2MP dual cameras on the rear and an 8MP single selfie camera on the front. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with the latest EMUI 8.2 skin laid on top.
The sports fingerprint sensor and also supports face unlock feature. We can also see the Honor branding on the front and rear of the device. With the large 7.12-inch screen size, the device measures 177.57 × 86.24 × 8.13 mm and weighs 210 grams. It is backed by a 5,000mAh battery and support Huawei Super Charge fast charging technology. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, NFC, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack, and a USB Type-C port.
It comes in Black, Blue, and Red color options. The Honor 8X Max with Snapdragon 636 SoC and 4GB of RAM is priced at 1499 Yuan for the 64GB storage variant and 1799 Yuan for the 128GB storage variant.
