While Huawei had announced yesterday their plans to launch the high-end devices Huawei GX8 & Mate 8 smartphone in the U.S market, its sister brand Honor today unveiled the mid-range Honor 5X smartphone. The Huawei GX8 and Honor 5X comes with almost same specifications along with metal build body, but the Honor 5X is priced at $199 while the Huawei GX8 costs you around $349. We had exclusively reported about the launch of this device in China on October 27th.
The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with EMUI 3.1 and sports a fingerprint sensor placed on the rear that can unlock in just 0.5 seconds. It features a 5.5-inch Full HD 1080p display and comes powered by Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor while the Chinese variant has a Snapdragon 616 processor. The U.S variant comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, and there is also a 3GB RAM variant with 32GB of built-in storage launched in China.
According to the latest information, Honor will be launching an unknown device at an event on January 28th in New Delhi, India. We are expecting the Honor 5X to be launched at that event since it is now made its way clear to enter the U.S market. It features a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus; and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls.
It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support that can charge 50% of the battery in just 30 minutes. The dual SIM device offers 4G LTE connectivity on both the SIM’s. It will be available to pre-order in the U.S starting from today while the shipping starts from January 31st and the company is offering a headset for free along with Honor 5X until this month end.
If the company comes with an aggressive pricing, it can be a good alternative for the recently launched Lenovo K4 Note that was priced at Rs. 11,999. With the premium metal body, the Honor 5X might have some edge over the metal framed K4 Note with plastic back cover. Stay tuned for more updates!
