Honor 20 & Honor 20 Pro With Kirin 980 SoC and Quad Rear Cameras Launched in India

Honor India has finally bought its Honor 20 series to India. The new Honor 20 series smartphones first had been unveiled by the company In London last month. This comes amidst Honor’s parent company Huawei’s ongoing ban issue with the US and other tech giants. Regardless, Honor India has unveiled its trio of smartphones to the consumers today. The trio of Honor 20 Series phones include – Honor 20 Pro, Honor 20 and the Honor 20i.

Amongst the trio lot, the Honor 20 and the Pro variant are considered to be affordable flagships by the company featuring identical design elements, specifications, and features.The Honor 20 Pro is said to be featuring Dynamic Holographic design on the rear covered with 3D glass body finish.

The Honor 20 Pro features a 6.26-inch all view display with camera punch hole similar to earlier released Honor View 20, which was released last December. The All view display brings an aspect ration of 91.7% with a pixel density of 412ppi. As stated earlier, Honor 20 also features the same display as the flagship model.

Under the hood, both the flagship Honor 20 smartphones come with Huawei’s octavos-core HiSilicon Kirin 980 AI-powered chipset with Dual-NPU that is built on a 7nm process. The devices feature Mali-G76 MP 10 GPU for gaming. On the whole, this new CPU is said to have a 75% performance upgrade and 58% power efficiency upgrade as well. GPU is also said to have a 46% performance increase. It also features GPU Turbo 3.0 for smoother and enhanced gaming experience.

On the storage front, the Honor 20 Pro features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, whereas the Honor 20 is equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of onboard storage. Both the devices feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for authentication and also feature Face Unlock. These devices will be shipping with Google’s latest Android 9.0 Pie-based Magic UI 2.1.0 out-of-the-box.

The Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20 thus far have shared pretty much identical specifications; however, these phones differ significantly in terms of optics. The Honor 20 Pro comes with Quad Rear cameras setup that includes a 48MP AI-powered camera, which is a Sony IMX586 sensor that comes with an aperture f/1.4. It comes with a bunch of AI-powered features including AI Ultra Clarity mode, AI Image Stabilization (AIS) and AI Super Night Mode as well. It further has OIS & EIS support as well. The primary camera is also paired with 16MP Super Wide Angle camera with an aperture of f/2.2 and is capable of capturing 117-degree super wide-angle photos. Further, these cameras are paired with an 8MP Telephoto camera with f/2.4 aperture that is capable of capturing 3X lossless zoom, 5X hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom as well. And lastly, the last sensor is a 2MP Macro camera with f/2.4 aperture that can capture 4cm macro photography.

And for the Honor 20 smartphone, it also features quad rear cameras but with significant changes, as stated earlier. While, the Honor 20 shares the same 48MP AI camera( with f/1.8 aperture) and 16MP super wide angle camera from the flagship Honor 20 Pro smartphone, it features a 2MP Depth Assist camera with f/2.4 aperture, instead of an 8MP Telephoto camera featured on the Honor 20 Pro. Further, it has the 2MP Macro Camera with f/2.4 aperture as well. Moreover, the 48MP sensor doesn’t come with OIS and EIS support.

However, on the front, both the Honor 20 Pro and the Honor 20 feature 32MP Selfie Camera, which is placed in a punch-hole cut-out under the display. The selfie shooter comes with f/2.0 aperture with 3D Portrait Lighting support.

The Honor 20 Pro is kept alive by a 4000mAh battery, which supports Honor SuperCharge 22.5W that is claimed to charge the device for up to 50% in a mere 30minutes. For Honor 20, the device is powered by 3750mAh battery, which also supports SuperCharge Technology. On the connectivity front, both the Honor devices support Bluetooth 5.0, a 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer. In addition, both the devices support Virtual 9.1 Surround Sound system for enhanced audio.

As for the pricing, the Honor 20 Pro is priced at Rs 39,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant, and the regular Honor 20 comes at Rs 32,999 for 6GB+128GB variant. Both the devices are sold as Flipkart Exclusive and the Honor 20 sales starts at 25th June, whereas the Honor 20 Pro launch date for consumers is not yet revealed by the company. As for the colors of these devices is concerned, the Honor 20 Pro will be featuring in Phantom Blue color and the Honor 20 will be coming in two color variants that include – Sapphire Blue and the Midnight Black colors.
