HMD Global’s Nokia 1 Starts Receiving Android 9.0 Pie Update

Nokia phones have been among the first ones to receive Google latest software experience after Google devices — thanks to its Android One program. Ever since Google had paired up with HMD Global, all the Nokia phones out there regardless of the price segment have been receiving the latest Android updates, as promised. The company now brings Google’s latest Android Pie to its entry-level Nokia 1 phone as well.

The Nokia 1, which has been launched over a year ago, was shipped with Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box. HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer has announced the new Android Pie roll out to entry-level Nokia 1 on his Twitter post. According to him, it is also believed that all the Nokia phones portfolio are now running on Google’s latest Android Pie.

This new Android Pie update is said to be the ‘Go Edition’ update, which is tailored to Go Edition Android phones of which the Nokia 1 happens to be one. With this new update on the Nokia 1, all the essential Google Go edition apps are updated to Android Pie, and the device also supports Digital Wellbeing, which is the Google’s new tool for users to monitor their smartphone usage on a day-to-day basis.

For those unaware, the Nokia 1, which happens to be the entry-level smartphone of the products portfolio came with a 4.5-inch FWVGA display, and the device was powered by MediaTek MT6737M processor, followed by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage with MicroSD expansion of up to 128GB. As for the cameras, it featured a 5MP rear camera along with a 5MP front-facing cameras as well. The Nokia 1 is kept alive by a 2150mAh battery.
