Gionee P5W with HD Display & Quad-Core SoC Launched at Rs. 6,499

The entry-level Gionee P5W was listed on the company’s website in early December last year and today the company has officially launched the device in India priced at Rs. 6,499. The device comes in different color options including White, Black, Blue, Red & Yellow. At this price range, it comes with a polycarbonate body and entry-level specifications.
It features a 5-inch IPS Oncell display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution. Under the hood is the powerful MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz along with 1GB of RAM. There is 16GB of onboard storage along wth a MicroSD card slot supporting up to a maximum of 128GB. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo 3.1 UI overlaid.
Coming to the camera, it has a 5MP rear camera with LED flash and autofocus, and a 2MP fixed focus camera on the front for selfies and video calls. A 2,000mAh is what keeps this device powered on but we cannot more than a day of usage. The dual SIM device doesn’t support 4G LTE but offers connectivity options like 3G HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, OTG, GPS, and MicroUSB 2.0 port.
With the AMI Lock feature, the users can set the face recognition option to unlock the device. It will be available to purchase across India via offline and online stores. A couple of weeks back, Gionee also launched the Marathon M5 Lite, the cut-down variant of Gionee Marathon M5. It is priced at Rs. 12,999 and includes 3GB of RAM and 4,000mAh battery. It is powered by the same processor as P5W but offers better cameras including an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP selfie shooter.
