Gionee Marathon M5 had been the go-to device for many of those who looks for a great battery life. Apart from the huge 6,020mAh battery, it also sports some good mid-range specifications and is priced very aggressively at Rs. 17,999 which is cheaper than what it costs in China. Yesterday, the company had unveiled two more devices named Marathon M5 Plus and Marathon M5 Enjoy Edition under the Marathon M5 series.
Last week the company had launched a new affordable smartphone called Marathon M5 Lite that is priced at just 999 Yuan (approx $154 / Rs. 10,200). It sports a smaller 4,000mAh battery compared to the other Marathon M5 devices, but big enough for many smartphone users. According to the company, it is rated to deliver 40 hours of talk time and lasts up to 39 hours on standby.
It features a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720) resolution and is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz. The device has 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot. At an expected price tag around Rs. 10,000, the M5 Lite lacks the powerful hardware when compared with other devices at this price range.

It comes with an 8MP rear camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 5MP selfie camera on the front. The device supports dual SIM options and offers connectivity features like 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. It also reversible charging to charge other devices on the go. The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo 3.1 UI overlaid.
The Marathon M5 Lite measures 143 x 69.9 x 8.5 mm and weighs 182 grams. It comes with the same design as of Marathon M5 that also includes all metal body. As per the Zauba listing, a few units are imported from China suggesting the launch of the device to happen in next few weeks.
