Gionee Marathon M5 Enjoy Edition with 5,000mAh Battery Launched at $308

The Gionee Marathon M5 Plus was officially unveiled today in China. Apart from Marathon M5 successor, the company has also launched a special variant called Marathon M5 Enjoy Edition. While the Marathon M5 Plus came with a 5,020mAh battery, the Marathon M5 Enjoy Edition is limited to 5,000mAh capacity.

The design of the device resembles with the Marathon M5 but includes a physical home button that also houses a fingerprint sensor. Along with the Marathon M5 Plus, Marathon M5 Enjoy Edition are first the first devices to feature a physical home button. According to the company, this fingerprint sensor can unlock the device in just half a second.

It supports dual SIM and comes with Amigo 3.1 UI based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. It has a 5.5-inch HD (1280×720) IPS display while the other devices in the Marathon M5 series came with an AMOLED display which also saves the battery life. The device is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor coupled with Mali-T720 GPU and 3GB of RAM.

There is only 16GB of internal storage and also includes a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion up to 128GB. The Marathon M5 and Marathon M5 Plus came with a 13MP rear camera, but the company limited the rear camera on Enjoy Edition only to an 8MP resolution. On the front, it has a 5MP camera for selfies and video calls.

The device measures 155 x 76 x 9 mm and weighs 200 grams. The 5,000mAh Lithium ion battery is said to give 52 hours of talk time and lasts up to 775 hours on standby. The dual SIM support comes with a hybrid card that also houses a MicroSD card instead of the second SIM. The Marathon M5 and Marathon M5 Plus came with dual SIM card slots and an additional MicroSD card slot.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS/A-GPS, MicroUSB  port. It is priced at 1,999 Yuan (approx $308 / Rs. 20,450) and comes only in Gold color. The device along with Marathon M5 Plus will be available starting from December 25th. Stay tuned for more information on the availability of the device in the Indian market.
