Earlier this year, the Xiaomi’s gaming smartphone brand Black Shark has launched the Black Shark 2 as the successor to the Black Shark Helo launched in October 2018. It is the third-gen device from the brand and is already on sale in China and European markets. Today, the company is debuting the Indian market with the latest Black Shark 2 gaming smartphone. It will be competing with the upcoming Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming smartphone. In terms of design, the Black Shark 2 comes with glass and metal combination body.

The company added the RGB backlit LED logo on the rear and dual RGB strips on the side edges. It sports a 6.39-inch True View AMOLED display with Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display is controlled by an independent chip and supports full DC dimming technology. It even includes Pixelwork’s multi-adaptive display modes for automatically adjusting the display brightness and ambient lighting environment.

Under the hood, the device comes powered by the 7nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform coupled with Kryo 485 CPU and Adreno 640 GPU. It offers up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage. In terms of optics, the device comes with 48MP + 13MP dual camera setup on the rear with f/1.75 aperture and a single 20MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.0 aperture. The six-layer body-wide liquid cooling 3.0 system will offer better heat dispersion and avoid thermal throttling.

The Black Shark 2 is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery and supports 27W fast charging. However, the device misses out the wireless charging options and also 3.5mm audio jack. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi  802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4GHz & 5GHz), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port. It runs on Android 9.0 Pie based Black Shark OS out of the box. On the right edge, the device includes a slider to switch on the Shark Space. It measures 163.61 x 75.01 x 8.77 mm and weighs 205 grams.

The device comes equipped front-firing stereo speaker and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Unlike OnePlus, Black Shark is providing the USB Type-C to 3.5mm adaptor with the device. The Black Shark 2 comes in Shadow Black, Frozen Silver, and Glory Blue color options. It will be exclusively sold via Flipkart starting June 4th. Talking about the pricing, the Black Shark 2 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 39,999. There is also a 12GB RAM variant with 256GB of storage and it costs Rs 49,999.
