In March this year, Xiaomi launched its first ever Android Go smartphone in the Indian market. The Redmi Go is priced at Rs 4,499 and come with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Today, the company launched the Redmi Go 16GB variant in the Indian market for Rs 4,799. However, it still comes with just 1GB of RAM. Apart from the bump in the onboard storage, there are no other changes made to the device. Also, the device still runs on Android Oreo Go Edition out of the box.
In India, the Samsung Galaxy A2 Core is the first Android Go smartphone to come with Android 9.0 Pie Go Edition out of the box. While the Go version apps come in smaller sizes, they also miss out some key features. On the front, the Redmi Go sports a 5-inch IPS display with HD (1280 x 720 pixels) resolution and 16:9 aspect ratio. It comes powered by the older Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor coupled with Adreno 308 GPU.
As said earlier, this new variant of Redmi Go comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There is also a dedicated MicroSD card slot for expanding the storage up to 128GB. Talking about the cameras, the Redmi Go sports an 8MP camera on the rear with f/2.0 aperture and a 5MP selfie camera on the front with f/2.2 aperture. The device is backed by a 3,000mAh non-removable battery and comes with a 5W power adapter. Both the power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge.

The device lacks a fingerprint scanner and also misses out the face unlock support. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 2.4GHz, Bluetooth 4.1, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. The Redmi Go measures 140.4 x 70.1 x 8.35 mm and weighs 137 grams. The Xiaomi Redmi Go will be available in Black and Blue color options. It can be purchased from Flipkart, Mi.com, and Mi Home stores. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more details!
