Back in April, this year, ASUS had launched its new ZenFone series – the ZenFone Max Pro M1. It was catered to mid-range segment starting at Rs 12,999 for the base variant. And, now, the company has launched its successor – the ZenFone Max Pro M2 in India. While the M1 was considered to be a great smartphone in that price segment, let’s look at what its successor has to offer.

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M2 features a 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS display bearing a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. It is further protected by new Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, which claims to be 2x times stronger than the Glass 5 protection. The Max Pro M2 display features a 94% color space along with contrast ratio of 1500:1 and also a relative screen size of up to 90%.

Under the hood, the M2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 SoC, which is a 14nm processor with Qualcomm AI, which had been launched back in 2017. The SoC is further paired with Adreno 512 GPU, followed by 3GB/4GB/6GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of onboard storage. ASUS offers microSD expansion on the M2 with upto 2TB and a 100GB Google Drive data for a year as well.

Following the footsteps of the predecessor, the Max Pro M2 also features dual cameras set up on the rear, wherein the primary sensor is 12MP with an aperture of f/1.8, and the secondary camera is a 5MP depth sensor alongside LED flash. On the front, the notch display holds a 13 MP selfie shooter with an aperture of f/2.0 with an LED flash.

ASUS claims that the rear cameras offer AI technologies support that includes 13 scene recognition options along with several shooting modes – portrait mode, professional mode, night shooting, for instance. The front camera also supports night shooting along with portrait enhancements and sports modes as well. As for the video recording, the rear cameras support 4K shooting capabilities and full HD recording of up to 30fps.

As for the authentication, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 features a fingerprint sensor on the rear alongside the face unlock support as well. The M2 delivers Android Oreo 8.1.0 out-of-the-box, which comes with Stock Android Experience without any bloatware. ASUS has also announced that the Android 9.0 Pie update is scheduled to come in January 2019.

And, lastly, the predominant feature that M1 had was the massive 5000mAh battery. ASUS retains the humongous 5000mAh battery on the Max Pro M2 that comes with a 5V/2A, 10W charger. However, unlike the contraries, the M2 still has a micro USB port for charging.

The dual VoLTE SIM powered ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 comes at Rs. 12,999 for 3GB/32GB variant, and the 4GB/64GB comes at Rs. 14,999 and the 6GB/64GB is priced at Rs. 16,999. The M2 also features in Grey and Blue color variants. The ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 is exclusive to Flipkart again and the sale starts on 18th December.
