Asus Launches ‘E-sports Limited Edition’ ROG Phone for Rs 1,36,500 in China

At the Computex held in June this year in Taiwan, Asus jumped on to the gaming smartphone bandwagon by unveiling its first-ever ROG-branded smartphone called Asus ROG Phone. Today, the company has officially launched the ROG Phone in China. The 128GB and 512GB storage variants are priced at 5999 Yuan (approx $875 / Rs 63,000) and 7999 Yuan (approx $1,165 / Rs 84,000) respectively. There is also a ROG Phone “E-sports Limited Edition” which comes bundled with 4 accessories and costs 12,999 Yuan (approx $1,890 / Rs 1,36,500).

Considering its a gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone doesn’t sleek. Instead, it comes with enhanced ergonomics to better suit long time gaming. It sports a 6-inch AMOLED HDR display with Full HD+ (2160 x 1080 pixels) resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The display on this device offers 90Hz refresh rate and just 1ms response time. Under the hood is the 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 Mobile Platform overclocked at 2.96GHz. The ROG Phone is also the first smartphone to offer 3D Vaper Chamber liquid cooling technology.

Also, it comes bundled with an ‘AeroActive cooler’ for extra cooling boost. The device includes 8GB of RAM and 128GB/512GB of internal storage. It also got two USB Type-C charging ports – one on the bottom edge and there is also a side-mounted port for charging the device while gaming. The USB Type-C port can also be used for HDMI output, Gigabit LAN, and headphones. It comes built-in with Snapdragon X21 LTE modem to offer Gigabit+ LTE speeds. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery with 30W fast charging support.

In term of optics, there is a 12MP + 8MP dual camera setup with 120-degree wide-angle view and an 8M front camera for selfies. The ROG Phone measures 158.8 x 76.2 x 8.6 mm and weighs 200 grams. Connectivity Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ad 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, A-GPS, NFC, 3.5mm headphone jack, USB Type-C 3.1 port, and USB Type-C 2.0 port. It is also water resistant and comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. There are two ultrasonic AirTriggers on the side edges which can be fully customized.

The company is also offering the Aura RGB lighting and Aura Sync support with the ROG Phone.  The E-sports Limited Edition ROG Phone comes with Aero Active cooler, TwinView Dock, Gamevice controller with WiGig Dock, and a Protective Case.
