Archos, a French-based smartphone manufacturer, has added four more affordable smartphones to its line-up. The company has unveiled the devices at the ongoing CES 2016 under the Power and Cobalt series. The devices come with some competitive specifications along with aggressive pricing that makes them stand against the other device at the same price range.
Commenting on the announcement, Loic Poirier, CEO of ARCHOS said,
“In order to offer an ever more complete range, ARCHOS is launching two new lines of smartphones to address consumer demands for longer lasting battery life and colors in affordable products”
Archos 40 Power & 50 Power
The Archos 40 Power and 50 Power are the two new devices that are launched under the Power series. The Archos 40 Power comes with a 4-inch WVGA (800 x 480) resolution display and is powered by a 1.2GHz Spreadtrum SC7731C quad-core processor. It has with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of onboard storage that can be further expandable via MicroSD card slot. The device has a 5MP rear camera wth LED flash, a 2MP selfie camera, and a 1,900mAh battery.
Compared to Archos 40 Power, 50 Power comes with some powerful specifications that too with more than doubled price tag. It features a 5-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS display and is backed by a huge 4,000mAh battery. Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6735 quad-core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It comes with a 13MP rear camera with LED flash that can capture decent images.
Archos 50 Cobalt & 55 Cobalt Plus
The 50 Cobalt comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display while the 55 Cobalt Plus comes with slightly larger 5.5-inch HD IPS display. Both the devices are powered by MediaTek MT6535 quad-core processor with 4G LTE connectivity. The 50 Cobalt includes 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage while the 55 Cobalt Plus comes with doubled specifications like 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.
There is a MicroSD card slot on both the devices for expanding the storage capabilities. The 50 Cobalt has an 8MP rear camera, and the 55 Cobalt Plus comes with a 13MP camera. All the devices run on Android 5.1 Lollipop with almost stock UI like experience. They will be available in Cobalt Blue and Dark Grey colors.
Talking about the pricing and the availability of the devices, the 40 Power and 50 Power are priced at €50 and €130 respectively and will be available starting from May 2016. The 50 Cobalt and 55 Cobalt Plus will be made available in April with a price tags of €99 and €149 respectively.
