Apple iPhone 6s & 6s Plus to Launch in India on Oct 16th, Pricing Starts from Rs.62,000

Update: Oct 6, 2015 – Apple has officially announced the total number of phones sold during the first three days 13 Million units which itself is a record. Along with this news, Apple has also confirmed that these devices would be available in the following countries based on the following schedule.
On October 10, countries include Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates. iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will be available in India, Malaysia and Turkey on Friday, October 16 and in over 130 countries by the end of the year.
Apple has never failed in terms of achieving its goals for the sales figures. If you take a look at company’s stats for the sale of last five years, you’ll only find the good profit margins on them. Where companies like Microsoft, HTC has shown a decrease in its smartphone sales figures while the Cupertino giant is just evolving every year. So, it was obvious for a company to expand its adventures overseas, and thus company started to focus on the Asian market. While China might be a bigger market for the company in Asia, India seems to have taken quite an interest as well.
Today, a fresh leak suggests the pricing of the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus that are scheduled to launch on October 16th. As per the leak, the 16GB variant of the iPhone 6S costs Rs.62,000 while the same 16GB variant of iPhone 6S Plus costs whopping Rs.72,000. The 64GB and 128GB variants of the iPhone 6S will be priced at Rs.72,000 and Rs.82,000 respectively while the iPhone 6S Plus variants will be priced at Rs.82,000 and Rs.92,000 respectively.
Last year, Indians bought 2 million iPhones, which is more than double the amount of devices sold in the year when iPhone 5S was launched, i.e. 2013. Moreover, the company sold more than 500K smartphones alone in the fourth quarter of last year. These numbers might not be large for India when looking at smartphone penetration in the country, but they certainly are an indication that Upper middle class now prefers to buy an iPhone over any other smartphone.
Now that company has announced its latest iPhones during its annual event on September 9; we expect the new iPhone 6s and 6s Plus would be joining Apple’s reign in India earlier than its usual period. According to Economic Times, the fanboys in the country might be getting the new iPhones sometime in the first week of October. To be more precise, the publication mentions 10th or 11th of October would be when the Cupertino giant launches its devices in India.
Looking at the earlier international announcements and launch dates of iPhones, the dates can be expected to adjust to the second/ third week of the month. It would give enough time for the Apple India team to manage a campaign for Diwali. And it is for the fact that smartphone companies in India run heavy discounted campaigns during Diwali week. All because Indians tend to spend a lot of money buying new things, as the festival is considered to be an auspicious time to get new things. And what’s better time for Apple to jump on this bandwagon of super sales.
