Apple announced the new HomePod at the WWDC 2017 show floor, along with a ton of new announcements like the new MacBook Pros, etc. However, while talking about the HomePod, the company rather remained silent about the HomePod’s availability and the quantities, etc. But now, we have some new reports which state that the new wireless speakers from Apple will be available later this year.
According to the new reports which we have, it looks like the HomePod will be available in Q4 2017, however, if you are planning to buy one, then you should be very quick since it looks the quantity will be quite limited at the time of the launch. Inventec Appliances President, David Ho, said during an earnings conference that they will finally ship the smart home device this year. However, he also stated that the quantity will be fairly limited and it will further improve next year.
As you can see, David didn’t really mention HomePod, he rather preferred to refer it as a smart home. However, analysts believe that the device in question is indeed Apple’s HomePod. It has been reported that the company will likely ship only about 500,000 units of HomePod this year. From what we have heard so far, it certainly looks like the situation will be much like the AirPods, which went on sale with limited quantities and there was a huge shortage of stocks leading to extremely high demand.
It has also been reported that Inventec Appliances will split the HomePod order with Hon Hai Precision Industry a.k.a Foxconn. However, this will happen in the beginning of 2018 and it is expected to grow the shipments by 20-percent. Talking about the release date, there is no info regarding that, however, it is expected that the HomePod will be officially launched at some point in December.
Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. At what price would you be interested in buying this smart speaker?
