According to the source, it looks like the speaker will debut in India during Diwali. Apparently, a source who is close to the company’s internal affairs said that the speaker will debut during Diwali, which marks the festive shopping season. For those of you who don’t know, the Echo is the larger variant, whereas the Echo Dot is a comparatively smaller variant.
Google Home Speaker, Amazon Echo Inspired Google Assistant Announced
Currently, in the U.S. the Echo is retailing for about $179, whereas the Echo Dot is currently retailing for about $50. Talking about their prices in India, the Amazon Echo is said to be priced at around 11,000
INR -12000 INR, whereas the Echo Dot is said to be priced at around 5000 INR – 6000 INR. And as for the languages to be supported in India, it is said that the company is testing both Hindi as well as Tamil. At the same time, the source also notes that the device may not support all the Indian languages at launch, however, future updates will make it much more capable.
We hope that the company launches the devices very soon in India since there are no smart speakers out there in the India market. Especially, in a time when the use of online services are growing in India, this will certainly help them a lot to gain user’s interest. Apart from connecting to the home’s Wi-Fi connection, the Amazon Echo can also connect to your smartphone and smart home devices. For instance, it can help you book a cab or order food, etc.
Having said that, we would like to know your thoughts on this. Would you be interested in buying the Echo speaker if it makes its way to India? Be sure to let us know.
