Airtel, Vodafone starts Digital Verification for Instant Activation with Aadhaar based e-KYC solution

Following the notification by the Department of Telecom, Bharti Airtel has started rolling out Adhaar based e-KYC solution. This will allow users to get instant activation of Airtel Mobile connections. Also, users will be able to get an Airtel SIM card, without the need of any documents. Instead, they will be verified online based on the Adhaar card details.
So according to this, users who want to get an Airtel prepaid/postpaid mobile connection, need to submit their biometrics at the time of sale of the SIM card. And these details will be matched with UIDIA database. If everything goes fine, the connection will be instantly activated on the name of the customer. This is a pretty neat procedure to a get a SIM card so easily. Walk into a store and walk out with an activated mobile connection. Gone are days of submitting the documents and waiting days for it get activated. So now the question is, from when will these services are available?

Airtel’s e-KYC solution is now live in the company-operated stores across Delhi NCR, and it will be offered across the country in the next few days. According to the company, this is a milestone in the telecom industry and this method of verification is highly secure. And don’t worry if you are not a fan of Airtel. Vodafone India will also offer the same across the country starting tomorrow from all its stores and mini stores.
Starting September 2016, the paperless validation and activation will be rolled out in 10,000-plus Vodafone stores in both Urban and Rural areas. This KYC solution eliminates the need for paper-based documents and also rules out any possibility of manual error as well. Idea Celular is also going to implement the same, but we don’t have an exact date to report on that. stay tuned for more info on this.
