Till date, there are many rumors and leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active. While few images of the device are already leaked, now the device was spotted on GFXbench where we got some information about the device specifications. After launching the Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge at MWC 2016 in February, Samsung hasn’t mentioned anything about the S7 Active, but the description of the Samsung app on Play store confirmed the existence of the device.

galaxy-s7-active-attIt comes with the model number SM-G891A while the Galaxy S6 Active bears the model number SM-G890A. The listing shows the device to sports 5.5-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) display but on Zauba, the screen size of the same device was mentioned as 5.1-inch. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow with the latest TouchWiz UI overlaid. Under the hood is the same Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz.
Since the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are already water and dust resistant, the Galaxy S7 Active will additionally come with the rugged body with military grade protection. It has 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage along with a MicroSD card slot.  The 12MP+ 5MP cameras remain same as on the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge. Unlike the earlier device in the Galaxy Active series, the S7 Active is said to feature the same home button with the fingerprint sensor as on normal Galaxy S7.

The device will be launched in the U.S exclusively by AT&T. Last year’s Galaxy S6 Active came with 3,500mAh battery while the normal Galaxy S6 is limited only to  2,550mAh battery. Now the battery capacities of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are increased, it will be interesting to see what Samsung offers wth S7 Active. As of now there is nothing mentioned about the launch date of the device, but we guess it to be launched by the end of next month.
