After announcing the Gionee S8 with 3D Touch support at the MWC 2016, the company had launched it along with premium Clamshell device Gionee W909 in March this year. Though the W909 will not be made available outside of China, even the Gionee S8 is not yet launched outside its home country. Instead of S8, the company launched the Marathon M5 Plus last month in India at a price of Rs. 26,999.
Now one more device with the model number GN9012 sporting mid-range specifications is listed on TENAA. Since the earlier launched Gionee S8 came with the model number GN9011, we guess the GN9012 to be the Gionee S8 Plus. It comes with a metal build body and front it looks similar to Xiaomi Mi 5 with the large home button with the capacitive button on each side of it.
The power button and volume rocker are placed on the right edge of the device. It sports a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED display and is powered by Snapdragon 652 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz. The device includes 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage that can be expanded upto 128GB via provided MicroSD card slot. It packs a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP selfie camera on the front.
It is backed by a 3,130mAh battery which might give a single day of mixed usage. The home button on the GN9012 will come integrated with the fingerprint sensor. With the hybrid SIM slot, the user can choose between the MicroSD card or a secondary SIM. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow based Amigo UI overlaid. The device supports 4G LTE along with other basic connectivity options. Stay tuned for more updates!
