Google started rolling out the new Android 7.0 Nougat update for the eligible Nexus devices yesterday. The new update brings a lot of new features as we have seen before. So if you want to update your device to this latest build of Android, then check out our tutorial for the same. But talking about the new features, one thing to notice here is, not all the features which were leaked earlier can be seen here on the final build. So does that mean, all the leaks were fake? Not exactly.
It is reported that all these new features will be coming to this version a bit later. Google is launching the new Maintainance Release a.k.a MR1. Maybe it’s too early to talk about it now, as we just got the new update for the final build. Also, this MR1 will not be rolling out until October. It is highly anticipated that this roll out will begin at the same time when the new Nexus devices are launched for this year. Since the latest Nexus hardware comes with all the bells and whistles or the new software, the MR 1 is likely to roll out with that. However, we don’t have an exact date as to when that will happen, but there are strong rumours claiming that the launch is due for some time in October only.
If you were living under the rock, then you might not know what these other new features are. Firstly, we are looking at a new Google Assistant. This is the company’s take on the existing Google Now feature which is going to be coming with some neat features. Also, the update brings a new launcher to the table. A launcher we had already seen before and used actually. It has a new design and has an app drawer, which can be pulled up from the bottom. And finally, we saw the new animation for the home button as well. Well, that looks pretty clean and is definitely a welcoming feature. Stay tuned for more info on this as we will update once we have more definite info on its release date.
