Update – At the IFA 2015 held in Berlin in last September, Acer had unveiled the world’s first Windows 10 OS running smartphone Acer Liquid Jade Primo, even earlier to the Lumia 950 and 950XL. Though there are many other Windows 10 devices available in the market along with Lumia 950, Lumia 950XL and Lumia 550, the company has now announced the Acer Jade Primo today at the CES 2016 that will be available in the markets by the end of February.
It comes with high-end specifications and also works with Continuum dock to experience a desktop-like user interface on a monitor powered by the mobile specs. The device is priced at $600 and will be first made available in few selected European countries followed by the U.S launch. There is no information about the availability and pricing of the device in the Indian market.
Earlier: Sep 5, 2015 – Acer launched a new Predator series of laptops, tablets, and smartphones. The Predator 6 is the main attraction of the whole event, but the company hasn’t mentioned more details of the smartphone. It is the world’s first smartphone to be powered by an Helio X20 deca-core processor. There is another interesting Pocket PC that was unveiled by Acer. The smartphone ‘Acer Jade Primo’ is the first smartphone to run on Windows Phone 10.
The company also provides docking station allowing with the handset to make use of the new ‘Continuum’ feature. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 808 processor making it the most powerful Windows Smartphone ever. It has a 5.5-inch Full HD (1920×1080) Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 401ppi.
For those who love photography on smartphones, the Jade Primo will never disappoint with its 21MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera. With the specifications mentioned above, the Jade Primo can offer better experience using on a bigger display with the help of Continuum.
Since this device uses a Snapdragon chipset, it cannot run every Windows app on the secondary display connected through Continuum dock. This is because of the Snapdragon 808 which has two Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53 processors, they can run only apps built with X64 compatibility and cannot run the apps that built on X86 architecture. While the device connected through Continuum, only the universal apps can work with the bigger display.
There are rumors that Microsoft will be launching their flagship smartphones Lumia 950 and 950XL will be officially unveiled next month. The remaining specifications are unknown, and the pricing is also not revealed in the event held at IFA 2015. Stayed tuned to receive more details about the Jade Primo, we will update the complete details of the device once it is officially launched.
