ZTE has just launched a budget smartphone in the Indian smartphone market, the ZTE N919D with a 5-inch display, and a mixture of entry level to mid-range specs. While most of the other smartphone brands have at least one decent smartphone in the budget range, ZTE fans in India might look at this as a choice, although some of the specs are below par, especially the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS running in it.
The N919D is a Dual SIM smartphone with one GSM and one CDMA SIM compatibility. The 5-inch displays has a FWVGA resolution (480×854 pixels), and the phone is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor, i.e. Snapdragon 200 (MSM8625Q, ARM Cortex A5) along with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage (expandable with 32GB MicroSD card).
The 8-megapixel camera on the back can record 480p videos, while there is a VGA front-facing camera for video calls. A 2500 mAh battery is included in the unit, and ZTE claims it has 350 hours of standby time.
“We are proud to add yet another smartphone to our portfolio for the Indian consumers which will be available exclusively on ebay.in. We have made it a point to offer the best mobility experience to our Indian customers, and each smartphone we launch is keeping in mind the unique needs of the Indian consumers,” said Sudhir Gaur, Mobile Business Head, ZTE India. “We aim to replicate the same pedigree of global innovation and leadership in India as well and are optimistic about the future of the mobile business in the country.”
Connectivity options of ZTE N919D include 3G CDMA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. There is FM Radio included as well. There is no word about software updates, and we don’t expect much in that aspect, as the device is launched with a pretty old Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS version.
For the buyers, Reliance Communications is offering unlimited data for 3 months. The ZTE N919D is launching exclusively on eBay India, and it is priced at Rs. 6999.
