Xiaomi Starts Rolling Out Android 9.0 Pie Update to its Mi A2



Xiaomi has started rolling out Android 9.0 Pie update to its Mi A2 smartphone starting today. Xiaomi has tweeted about the same from its official Twitter account and this Android One phone will be receiving the update from 18th of December. The Android 9 Pie update was started rolling to the Mi A2 users in India couple of weeks back on 28th of November but it was made available in phases, but the company has confirmed Mi A2 to be the first Android One Phone from Xiaomi to get Android Pie worldwide now.

The update will be received via OTA and if you can’t wait to get the Pie update on your device, you can always go to the settings of the handset and check for system updates. If the update is available, download it before installation and make sure to back up all your data to be on the safe side. Keep your phone charged if the battery on it is less than 60 percent and you are now ready to install it.

The update will be coming with the version number V9.6.17.0 for India but there is no news as of now on the global version number. Since Mi A2 is an Android One smartphone, it will be getting regular software updates along with security patches, bug fixes, and improvements. The update will bring in features like Adaptive Brightness, Adaptive Battery, App Actions, Slices, Do Not Disturb mode, Wind Down, Digital Wellbeing, App Times, Intuitive Navigation, Dark Mode and few more features.

Furthermore, the Xiaomi India also mentioned that Android 9 harnesses the power of artificial intelligence and it will be adapting faster the more it’s being used. The Mi A2 comes with 5.99-inch Full HD+ display and aspect ratio of 18:9. Under the hood, it comes with Snapdragon 660 processor and is coupled with 4GB or 6GB of RAM along with 64GB and 128GB of storage option which could be extended further up to 256GB via microSD card slot.

Out of the box, it offers Stock Android and comes with a Face unlocking system with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the rear. It has a 12MP + 20MP camera set up on the rear while on the front there is a 20MP selfie camera with AI features. Do you own this device? Did you receive the update?
