Last month, we covered about the leaked Redmi Note 5A retail box. Now, we got a new update revealing the key specifications and the rumored launch date of the device. The company will be launching the Redmi Note 5 as the successor to the popular Redmi Note 4. However, the new Redmi Note 5A will be the lite variant of the Redmi Note 5. Last year, Xiaomi launched the Redmi 4A as the liter variant of the Redmi 4. While the Redmi Note 5 comes with the model number MDE6, the Redmi Note 5A will be coming in two variants with the model numbers MDE6S and MDT6S.
Talking about the specifications, the RedmiNote 5A will be powered by the power efficient Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor. The Redmi Note 4 and Mi Max 2 are also powered by the same the processor. On the front, we will be looking at a 5.5-inch display offering Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution. From the above feature image, we can spot the circular fingerprint sensor on the rear. The device will be available in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with different storage options. It will be running on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box.
The Redmi Note 4 launched earlier this year is the best-selling smartphone in India in 2017. It has clocked more than 5 million sales only in India. It came in three different storage variants and the pricing starts at Rs. 9,999. It comes with an Aluminum body and sports a 5.5-inch Full HD display. In the camera department, there is a 13MP camera on the rear and a 5MP camera on the front for selfies. While the device was launched with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, last week, the company released the latest MIUI 9 update based on Android Nougat.
It is backed by a 4,100mAh battery that can easily last more than a day long usage. Taking about the Redmi Note 5A, it is rumored to launch on August 21st in China. Since there is no official confirmation, take these details with a pinch of salt. Stay tuned on Phone Radar for more updates!
