Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 with 5.99″ FullView Display & 4000mAh Battery Launched in India
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is one of the most popular smartphones we have seen in 2017. Today, the company finally launched the Redmi Note 5 as the successor to Redmi Note 4 in India. However, it’s just a mere upgrade to the Redmi Note 4 with one major visible change. The Redmi Note 5 is actually the same Redmi 5 Plus which was launched three months ago in China. On the design front, the company is still continuing with the metal body with plastic at the top and bottom. There are also fake antenna bands to make it look like a metal unibody design.
On the front is the 5.99-inch Full HD+ (1920 x 1080 pixels) display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Compared to other 18:9 budget smartphones, the Redmi Note 5 sports considerably thick bezels on all the four sides. The display comes covered by a 2.5D curved Corning Gorilla Glass on the top. Under the hood is the 64-bit Snapdragon 625 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz and comes coupled with Adreno 506 GPU. The device will be available in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively.
While the earlier launched Redmi smartphones came with triple SIM card slots, the new Redmi Note 5 offers hybrid SIM slot, where the user has to choose between the secondary SIM and the MicroSD card. In terms of optics, the device offers a 12MP rear camera with f/2.2 aperture and a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calls. Both the front and rear cameras come accompanied by a LED flash. It is backed by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery which should easily last for a complete day of regular usage. However, there is no USB Type-C port or fast charging support.
The smartphone runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. It measures 158.5 x 75.45 x 8.05 mm and weighs 80 grams. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth 4.0, IR Blaster, 3.5mm audio jack, and a MicroUSB 2.0 port. Talking about the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 with 3GB and 4GB of RAM will be costing Rs. 9,999 and Rs. 11,999 respectively. The device will be sold via Flipkart, Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Mi Preferred Partners.
