Xiaomi has started rolling out the Android 8.1 Oreo Stable Update based on MIUI 10 for its Redmi 5A Smartphone. The device was launched with MIUI 10 with Android 7.1 Nougat operating system on top and last month the MIUI 10 Global Stable update was rolled out for Redmi 5A that was based on Android 7.1 Nougat and now the Redmi 5A is getting Android 8.1 Oreo OS based on MIUI 10.
The update is now pushed to random users and according to the Mi forum post, the update is a beta of the Global Stable release. And the same update will be rollout out widely if everything goes well. The update will come as MIUI 10.1.2.0.OCKMIFI and the size of it is 1.3GB in size. It will be bringing the Android security patch for the month of November. If you have not received the update yet, you can download the Recovery ROM and flash it since many of them have not received the update yet.
Before flashing, make sure your data is all backed up and charging on the smartphone is more than 60 percent. The Xiaomi Redmi 5A was announced last year in the month of November and it came with a 5-inch LCD display with 720 x 1280 pixels resolutions. Under the hood, there is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC coupled with 2GB/3GB of RAM along with Adreno 308 GPU.
The storage options available are 16GB and 32GB which can be extended further up to a maximum of 256GB via microSD card slot. There is a 5MP front facing camera on the device and a 13MP camera on the rear with LED flash. There is a 3000mAh battery on the back and came out of the box with Android 7.1.2 Nougat.
