Xiaomi to Crowdsource One Million Yuan to sell 100K Redmi 2C Smartphones

The November 11th (11/11) which is celebrated as the Singles day in China had become like the Black Friday for China. While there will be more business done when compared to the Black Friday in the U.S. Last year, Chinese spent more than $9 Billion alone on the Singles day. In 2014, TMall, one of the Chinese popular online store had sold 1,894,867 smartphones on the Singles day while 61.5% of them are Xiaomi devices.
For the 2015 Singles day, Xiaomi had planned in a different way by offering deals over a span of 11 days instead of a single day. The company had also announced the launch of a new smartphone, and surprisingly the company opted for crowdsourcing for selling the device. The device is priced 1,000 Yuan while the actual price that will be revealed on the launch date might be on the higher or lower side.
If the device is priced lower than the 1000 Yuan, the difference of the amount will be credited back to the users. The campaign starts from November 11th at 00:00 am and the device will be shipped in 40 days. We expect the device to launch is the all new Redmi 2C, but there is also a chance of launching the earlier rumored Redmi Note 3.
As per our source, the device will be priced at 399 Yuan (approx $63 / Rs. 4,150) and will also be the world’s most affordable 4G LTE smartphone. The design of the device looks similar to the Redmi 2 and sports 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It is the same device that was listed on TENAA with the model number 2014816.
The campaign limits the device to be available up to only 100,000 units priced at 1,000 Yuan per device. While the campaign is the all set to go on live starting November 11th, we can’t 100% confirm the Redmi 2C to launch on that day. Take this with a pinch of salt until the company officially unveils the device.
